Jinji Lake Tunnel is a tunnel across Jinji Lake in Suzhou, and also the first over-long open-cut tunnel built by public rail through 5A lake scenic spot in China.
    Construction of the Jinji Lake Tunnel began on February 13, 2019, and is expected to be completed and open to traffic by the end of 2022. With a total length of 6.04 km, the tunnel connects Xinghai Street of Suzhou Industrial Park in the west and Nanshi Street of Suzhou Industrial Park in the east, with six two-way lanes.
    Compared with other tunnels, The Construction of Jinji Lake tunnel is difficult and the project volume is large, and the construction period alone will take more than three years.

    The average depth of Jinji Lake is about 1.8 meters, and there are deep trenches from south to north, the deepest reaches 5 meters, and the geology at the bottom of the lake is complicated. Therefore, the construction of cofferdam with large span on water is a great test to the stability of cofferdam and the risk of leakage deformation.
    In order to prevent water seepage of cofferdam, three anti-seepage preparations were used in construction. On the outside of the cofferdam, the lock is used to combine steel sheet piles. On the inside, geotextile is used to do seepage prevention, and there are soil filling operations inside. Three waterproofing completely meet the impermeability of 6 meters high. Each steel pipe inserted into the water more than ten meters deep, interlocking, can effectively prevent leakage.
